The summer population of Northwood was once estimated as 70% connected to the world of entertainment. When most theaters went dark in summer\, Lake Hopatcong provided a respite for comedians\, singers\, dancers\, and every type of performer imaginable. In addition to the many well know performers who came to the lake – Milton Berle\, George Burns\, Joe Cook\, Bert Lahr – there were scores of lesser knowns who worked both on and behind the stage.
