Lake Hopatcong, A Summer’s Escape for Entertainers

August 12 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
$20

Whether they worked in Vaudeville, burlesque or the follies they all knew about Lake Hopatcong. The summer population of Northwood was once estimated as 70% connected to the world of entertainment. When most theaters went dark in summer, Lake Hopatcong provided a respite for comedians, singers, dancers, and every type of performer imaginable. In addition to the many well know performers who came to the lake – Milton Berle, George Burns, Joe Cook, Bert Lahr – there were scores of lesser knowns who worked both on and behind the stage. Why Lake Hopatcong? Come learn about the people and circumstances that once put a spotlight on the lake.
Online ticketing will begin in mid July. More details will be in the museum newsletter and email updates.
