Greg Hildebrandt, a world-renowned and prolific artist, called Lake Hopatcong home for over 33 years until his passing in October 2024. A generous presence in the community, he is fondly remembered and deeply missed by many around the lake.

In collaboration with his twin brother Tim as The Brothers Hildebrandt, Greg famously painted, illustrated, and sketched many iconic fantasy and science fiction pieces, including the original Star Wars poster for the British Theater release and US poster release of the film. He is also well known for his Lord of the Rings calendar artwork in 1976, 1977 and 1978. In 1993 he was commissioned by Marvel to produce art for comic book covers, posters and 158 paintings for a Marvel Masterpieces trading card set.  In 2003 Greg began creating all the art for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra for their tour programs, CD’s, album covers and merchandise.  A renaissance man, Greg worked across many mediums and genres, which spanned fantasy, sci-fi, classic fairy tales, pin-up art, religious portraits, and explorations in spirituality.

Experience a selection of Greg’s paintings, illustrations, and sketches – a small slice of his career – on display for a short time at the Lake Hopatcong Foundation, 125 Landing Road, Landing, NJ, from Thursday, June 19 through Monday, June 23.
